Product Overview

This is a supreme bottle that can be called the "soul" of Bollinger, loved by the British Royal Family and James Bond of the "007" movies. Its overwhelming quality, which goes beyond the typical non-vintage category, led to it being specially named "Special Cuvée" in 1911.

The secret to its unparalleled taste lies in its unique "Reserve Magnum System." The best grapes are fermented in old oak barrels, then aged in magnum bottles for 5 to 15 years or more. By blending 50-60% of this incredibly labor-intensive reserve wine, it creates overwhelming depth and complex aromas.

Furthermore, it undergoes bottle aging for 30-36 months or more, significantly exceeding the legal period of 15 months. This time and effort, comparable to that of other companies' high-end vintage Champagnes, guarantees the unwavering "consistency" of its quality.

Tasting Notes

When poured into a glass, its deep golden color and velvet-like fine bubbles are striking. The aroma starts with rich fruit flavors of ripe apple and white peach, then dramatically changes in the glass over time to complex scents of freshly baked brioche, roasted nuts, and honey.

The taste is characterized by a powerful structure, primarily from Pinot Noir, and a pleasant minerality. It has an extremely dry finish with restrained sweetness, overflowing with the wine's inherent rich umami, and a long finish of walnuts and pear that strongly stimulates the drinker's appetite.
